This power cable with cigarette lighter adapter provides the Magellan SporTrak or Meridian GPS receiver with a 9-35 VDC power input from your car, boat or truck. This cable does not transfer data.

The prongs on the reciever end does not make good contact. I can get the GPS to work as long as I dont move it around. Screw that holds it on the GPS, bottoms out before it touches the contacts.

3 Stars Second choice Ok
The product works well and the transaction with Amazon is great as always. What I needed was this cable with a computer adapter included but apparently there are none available.

5 Stars Great add on for snowmobile
I purchased this so I could have power for my GPS on my snowmobile. If you don’t have a cigarette plug on yours, go to your local electronics store and get yourself a bridge rectifier, cut the plug off of this and connect to the rectifier, tap into 12 VAC and ground on the sled for the other 2 connectors on the rectifier and you’ve got power. You do still need batteries because the voltage gets weak at idle, but there is plenty off idle. Get the bicycle mount for GPS to mount on handlebars. Been using this setup for a few years. Works great and is a smart idea in unfamiliar territory.

3 Stars Business owner
Power adaptor works well, but I have reservations due to the cheap plastic. It is great so far.

5 Stars Works well for me
Hey, its a cord. What do you expect? I have a Magellan SporTrak Pro and bought this cord to use in the car on vacation earlier this year. The cord connects to the back of the GPS unit and plugs into the power jack in your car. Worked just fine for me using it this way.

I have used five of these now in boat navigation laptops for myself and friends. Very fast lockup, it always has a position before the nav software loads. Very sensitive, while others are having to stick their GPS out side this one is receiving in the cabin. I like the fact it is powered by the USB port and doesn’t need a separate battery.

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars What a waste
Unfortunately I installed it on my desktop to see how it works and I thougt it was ok.. Little did I realize I can’t install it on my laptop to use in the car unless I buy another one. Typical Garman highway robbery.

1 Star Great Interface, bad performance
I had high hopes after reading several professional and end user reviews. I loved the interface and the large icons. However, I could never get it to work on my newer laptop. I spent many phone calls with tech support trying to get it to work, but it always kept freezing up. I had to return it.

5 Stars Instant GPS
this thing is awesome, it transforms your laptop into a high end GPS receiver just like the Garmin Nuvi’s. in fact it uses the same software as the Nuvi and offers every option found in the best dash mounted devices.

use your existing external USB or Bluetooth GPS and your off and running.

it’s like buying a $800 Nuvi for $59

1 Star Advertising misleading
I ordered the Garmin Mobil PC based upon the picture of the product in the advertisement. The picture depicts a receiver connected to the laptop, leading me to believe the receiver was included. To my dismay, it was not. All you get is the street map. Since the Garman Mobile PC is useless without the receiver, I has since returned the product for full credit after making inquiries as to why it was not included. I fell that the ad is misleading as the picture shows. The advertiser should clearly state that the receiver is not included.

5 Stars Incredible Value!
We needed a device which would hold multiple routes. this does the job. We have a hard time believing its power and accuracy. For ordinary GPS I am sure a regular unit would be better but for our uses this is the thing. There is no way we could have afforded the more expensive units and this unit has much more coverage that Microsoft direct which misses us completely. We go through isolated areas and we are very pleased!!

GARMIN 010 00468 00 128 MB GPS Map Without Barometric Altimeter and Electronic Compass

The GPSMAP 76Cx is a refreshing upgrade of the GPSMAP 76C, one of the most popular Garmin’s models for outdoor and marine use. This unit features a removable microSD card for detailed mapping memory and a waterproof, rugged housing. The microSD card slot is located inside the waterproof battery compartment. Users can load map data and transfer routes and waypoints through the unit’s fast USB connection. In addition, this unit features a new, highly sensitive GPS receiver that acquires satellites faster and lets users track their location in challenging conditions, such as heavy foliage or deep canyons.Considered the mainstay among serious outdoor enthusiasts, the GPSMAP 76Cx offers a large color TFT display and turn-by-turn routing capability. This unit also floats when dropped in the water.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star read the reviews about installing maps
Before buying read all the review comments about problems installing maps. I ordered this unit a month ago and still can’t use it. The map that comes with shows little more detail than Interstate highways. So, I ordered what I thought was City Navigator NT map software from Amazon but it was an update and could not be installed unless I already owned the software. Garmin agreed for an additional $30 (in addition to the $70 paid for the update) to exchange the update for the actual City Navigator NT and promised that I would receive the replacement in 4 days after receipt of my return. I received it 18 days after I sent them the update by Priority Mail. Now, when I try to install the software, the unlock code does not work. Nothing on the web page instructs how to do so if there are problems. I’m calling on the Friday before Labor Day, and they are closed through the weekend. So, no possibility of using it for Labor Day travels. I had also wanted to use this unit for hiking but consider the option of installing topo maps to be impossible. The unit satellite system works very well, but unless you are prepared to go through the expense of buying a different mapping software for every use and go through the complications of getting them installed, it’s basically a nice (and expensive) paperweight that shows your coordinates.

3 Stars garmin 76cx
1st set Amazon sent was a disappointment. The unit intermittently went off by itself, during road use/usb connection to pc.

Amazon was kind enough to send me a replacement set pretty expediently and the 2nd unit has worked like a gem. This is my 3rd Garmin GPS.

My loss is the freight I because delivery charges to Singapore, Asia!

2 Stars Customer Support Hung Up On Me
After providing unhelpful recommendations, Garmin user support got frustrated with my questions and hung up on me. This was a first for me.

5 Stars I will never be lost again
Great product. Takes some learning as it is not as intuitive as I would have liked, but the easy way is not always best.

I highly recommend this product.

1 Star BOATERS DO NOT BUY!!
To say this thing is designed for boaters is as big a joke as a lie!! The included database does not even include the basic outline of local lakes smaller than the Great Lakes. Minnesota – the “land of 10,000 lakes” has been reduced to the land of 2 or 3 lakes. The map that came with it is from 2001. Perhaps the glaciers had not done their work by then. Truthfully, the Garmin 430 that we use for our car has a far, far better database. This unit was designed for one purpose – to make you buy additional databases. The picture on the 76Cx page shows an image of a lake with depths and navigation aids. Nowhere does it say the image requires optional addons to get that kind of detail (or even see the lake) although on the box (once you’ve shelled out the money and it arrives) you find that in very small print on the back. The only claim that may be realistic is that it is supposed to float and I am sorely tempted to put that to the test. To get maps of two popular lakes in MN, Rainy Lake and Lake Superior, I need to buy two addon charts at over $200. If I want to see a handful of the other lakes I can pay another $89 for the Lakemaster addon (which conveniently doesn’t include the other two lakes). Grand total – over $500 including buying the initial piece of junk which feels like a 80’s vintage cell phone. Large color display? Maybe for geocaching but not nearly big enough to be mounted in the cockpit of a boat and the resolution is very poor. Save your money and buy a better unit – preferably not a Garmin as their business practices are suspect at best. If you do buy it, good luck with support. I couldn’t even get on the web site and I gave up on the phone after 30 minutes. I’m a pretty easy consumer usually but this is a major rip off!

3 Stars Business owner
Power adaptor works well, but I have reservations due to the cheap plastic. It is great so far.

3 Stars Second choice Ok
The product works well and the transaction with Amazon is great as always. What I needed was this cable with a computer adapter included but apparently there are none available.

Magellan 702211 Bike Mounting Bracket

Conveniently mount your Magellan eXplorist series GPS receiver on your bicycle, snowmobile, or motorcycle. This easy-to-install mounting bracket securely holds your receiver for optimal viewing while on the trails, back roads, city streets or anywhere your adventure takes you.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star clunky
I got an explorist 200 as a gift and wanted to try is as a bicycle speedometer. Since it has a crude street map database I thought it might be useful on my road bike. I’m not very happy with it but that’s a different review. The mounting bracket is big and clunky. It looks like the designer made a universal piece of plastic and then added a makeshift metal handlebar clamp. It’s much heavier and bigger than it needs to be.

2 Stars Poor design for mountain bikes
This mounting bracket has a number of shortcomings that make it difficult to recommend. First, mountain bikes typically have handlebars that are wide at the stem and taper and bend towards the grips. If you have a mountain bike there is a good chance the bracket will not fit your handlebars well. Second, if it does fit, the weight of the eXplorist will cause the bracket to twist as you ride unless you really tighten it. This is especially bad if you have a carbon bar. You may be able to mount the bracket close to the stem so that it also rests against it for support. This will keep it from rotating while riding.

If Magellan had made the metal parts of the bracket so that it could be rotated by 90 degrees it could be mounted on the stem. This is a far more stable area for something heavy. Unfortunately this is not the case. As another reviewer mentioned, most bicycle lights have better mounting designs.

3 Stars Clumsy but effective
Clunky design. If you’re not careful, the GPS doesn’t click securely into the bracket. Your first warning that it isn’t seated is the crash of the GPS unit onto the pavement. The mounting screws come without lock-nuts, and they loosen, letting the bracket rotate out of place. Switching the bracket from bike to bike is a real pain. And that price! For half the suggested price of this bracket, you can buy a high-powered, long-life bike headlight with a GREAT mounting system. Since there’s no competiting product — and the bracket does work if you put lock-nuts on the screws and pay very close attention to snapping the GPS unit in securely — I’m recommending this product for those who need it. However, if TomTom or Garmin comes up with a better bike-mounting bracket, it will be the deciding factor when I select my next GPS.

5 Stars Works for me.
This bracket works perfectly with my eXplorist 200. Screw it onto your handlebar, snap the eXplorist in place and ride to your heart’s content. I mostly ride streets and bike paths. The 200 is held tightly and has never fallen off the bike. If you go off-road, because of the weight of the eXplorist, you might want to secure it with some duct tape or Velcro.

5 Stars Works Great!
I attached this mount to the handlebars of my Honda XR350R and it works great! The GPS unit is held securly and I have no problems with it moving around. Gone over 100 miles off-road so far with no problems!

Deep foliage, nor canyons phase the rugged eTrex Legend HCx. Its high-sensitivity receiver holds a GPS signal in the toughest environments. Similar to the Legend Cx, this handheld navigator also has a bright color screen, microSD card slot and automatic routing for wherever adventure takes you. With its high-sensitivity, WAAS-enabled GPS receiver, eTrex Legend HCx locates your position quickly and precisely and maintains its GPS location even in heavy cover and deep canyons. The advantage is clear – whether you’re in deep woods or just near tall buildings and trees, you can count on Legend HCx to help you find your way when you need it the most.Adding maps is easier than ever with Legend HCx’s microSD card slot. Conveniently plug in optional preloaded microSD cards with MapSource data for your land and sea excursions. Just insert a MapSource card with detailed street maps, and Legend HCx provides turn-by-turn directions to your destination. The card slot is located inside the waterproof battery compartment, so you don’t have to worry about getting it wet.Like the rest of the eTrex series, Legend HCx is lightweight and compact – the perfect size for all your travels.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star do not buy this unit
I have been trying to unlock the city navigator NT that was purchased with this unit. I have tried everything I know. The web site is terrible and trying to email product support does not work. Buy something else. This is terrible.

5 Stars Great Device, with conditions…
This is a very capable, powerful device. As my first GPS, I don’t have prior experience to go with, so keep in mind my review might fit what better what a new owner would be seeing, rather than an experienced person.

The instruction manual is somewhat helpful, but a bit disappointing. Mostly, I found that just playing with the unit taught me much better than the manual did. The good news is that the way this thing works is pretty logical, and a little practice makes it pretty easy, as long as you take time with it BEFORE YOU NEED IT….that takes the stress of being in the middle of nowhere, and trying to make sense of things off of you.

Secondly, the basemap is nearly useless. It shows Interstates, and major state highways, but the rest of the country on the basemap is a blank, featureless space. Expect to buy maps. I bought the 2009 Topo, which gave me topographic maps of the entire continental US. As a nice bonus, city streets are also part of the map, at least in my town.

Battery life isn’t quite the 25 hour time the instructions say, but the unit will run all day on a set of fresh Duracells…but if you’re going into the woods, keep a fresh spare set.

Bottom line: A good device, easy to use once you’ve spent some time with it prior to critical use. Be prepared to buy maps, you’ll need them.

One final thing. This unit uses a micro SD card, instead of relying on a tiny amount of internal memory. I bought a 2 GB card for mine, which seems to be the largest amount of memory it can access. I loaded a map that covers portions of 7 states around where I live…plenty of room still available, and now I have a map loaded that covers almost anywhere I’m likely to be 99% of the time.

3 Stars e-trx Legend
This was a great gift. I like it because it is waterproof and I snowmobile a lot. It was kind of a pain to figure out since I use a Mac, you have to do the initial set-up on a PC although you can buy downloads on a Mac. I purchased the Michigan snowmobile trails maps from an after market company that is product specific and am very happy with the system. The brightness keeps dropping down to 0 every time I turn it off so I have to readjust the brightness. I don’t like the fact that it takes batteries, It would be a lot nicer if it had a built in battery, but I also understand for long trex’s where are you going to charge it ? The batteries last about 6 hours if on constantly and utilizing otherwise on and off for several days. I also purchased the case and handlebar mount for my ATV & snowmobile, I haven’t received those items yet. I fill you in when I do.

4 Stars Excellent
Good product. Picks up signal very well.

Only problem it only works with Garmin maps.

5 Stars Nice product, but didn’t work for my needs.
I got over the small screen because the color and detail was so much better than my old one. And it very quickly locked onto satellites, even inside my house, which my old one could not do.

But I needed it to transfer live GPS data to my laptop, running Terrain Navigator software to record the track, in my four-wheel-drive vehicle as I explored back roads in Arizona. It would work for a few minutes and then would freeze. I spent a lot of time with tech support and finally returned it. I went back to my old Magellan GPS as it worked OK.

But otherwise I really liked this new Garmin.
