I bought several of these for our company. The product is of good quality and with the rubberized weight inside, this allows you to put it on the dash without it sliding around. The case properly protects your GPS system. When you are finished using your GPS system you can zip it up and take it with you.

I have a Garmin 255W and wanted a holder that would keep the GPS shaded on long trips while setting on the dash. The weighted Garmin dash mount I have was very stable but provided no shelter from the hot sun. This looked like the answer and I got it. I had concerns that this would muffle the voice coming out of the back of the GPS but it does not diminish the sound at all. On a local trip of five miles today, this Nav-Pac slipped off the dash twice when accelerating from a full stop. My dash is plastic and not very slippery but this holder just does not have enough surface area to keep from slipping off, unlike my Garmin dash mount. I do like this Nav-Pack and I will put a piece of Velcro on the bottom of the Nav-Pack and a piece attached to my dash. This should solve the problem of slipping off the dash but I’m not thrilled about a piece of Velcro stuck to my dash. I suggest this Nav-Pack ONLY if you want protection from the sun on your GPS and also using Velcro, unless you want a GPS falling into your lap…

UPDATE: Wife found a silicone potholder at Target. Its thin as a silver dollar, translucent and about 12″ square and very flexible. Works great when on dash and Nav-Pak is placed on top of it. No more sliding now…

5 Stars Garmin 12 Volt Suction Mount
I got this product a few weeks ago and it works great. I only use it on week-ends, mainly, and have gotten great results from it. I recommend it to anyone. I haven’t had any problems like some of the other reviews, but I only leave it up for 4 or 5 hours at a time. I mainly travel short distances. Hope this helps someone.

2 Stars Not as good as it should be!
Even though I live in a very hot area, I have not had trouble with the rubber melting. I have had trouble with the swivel losing its ability to tighten, allowing the unit to twist.

Biggest problem has been that the suction cup will not stick unless wetted, and then will lose suction within a couple of days…maybe that’s why I haven’t had the stuck rubber issue!

Perhaps my windshield is curved more than this unit likes…have used another GPS with a different mount that has no trouble holding suction.

Some cheap bugger stole my Garmin Vehicle Suction Mount from the car. I had no other choice to buy a new one. I had hard time finding that in a store viz Best buy, target Circuit City etc. Finally I found one but was very expensive ($57 incl tax). Searched on Amazon as usual and got it for $36 and that too new. Have to save $21 and back to using GPS.

My last GPS kept falling off the windshield when the suction cups wore off so I got this one. No instructions. Not sure if the clips go into the vent up or down but both are difficult to use while driving. If I remove the GPS after parking my car, this holder also comes off.

This mount comes in two seperate pieces, an adapter that screws onto the handlebar and a battery case that snaps onto the adapter and the GPS. The result is an excellent fit which is secure and will prevent the GPS from falling off when riding over any terrain. The battery case is interchangable with the other Garmin mounts and works well. Definitely a good purchase.

I am a bicycle commuter and ride almost exclusively on roads and paved trails. This bike mount works great for that! I can’t tell how it would hold up in the vibrations of off-roading, but this week I took a nasty spill on an ice patch, the bike went flying – and the eTrex stayed firmly connected to the bike through all that.

I am using it with a eTrex Venture HC, using the screw-on clip that came with the GPSr (the battery cover that comes with this handlebar mount does not fit the Venture HC). Works like a charm!

I bought this for my new ETrex Vista HCx for use with my mountain bike during those non crash style rides. This mount is intended to replace the back cover of your GPSr and then clip onto the handlebar mount. I discovered that the replacement cover is different than the original one in several ways. First, it is all plastic with a much smaller, delicate o-ring seal than the original cover (which is made out of metal and has a beefy seal system.) More importantly, the new cover does not fit on the HCx or others with microSD cards. Hmmm. I was ready to return it and I remembered that my new Vista HCx came with a screw mount “auxiliary mount adapter” that the instruction manual for the HCx says “do not discard”. Lo and behold, screw that baby onto the original sturdy beefy o-ring sealed metal back and it clips onto the handlebar mount perfectly. This is much better than the replacement back that comes with the mount kit. Now I have an unused back cover for any non HCx design Etrex to sell. Garmin does sell just the bar mount piece for suggested retail $10.91, so I lost money on the deal, but I don’t have to return anything and my mount is stronger than the original design that Garmin had. I only deducted one star for the quality of the kit’s plastic replacement back cover that non-HCx users will have to use.

1 Star Mount is poorly made to protect such an expensive computer
I agree with the other 1 star reviews. The mounting clip breaks after only about 3 months of use when taking the unit on and off your bike. Other people in my bike club have reported similar results and have had $500 Edge 705 units fly off their bike while riding!!! Come on, Garmin, get your act together and make something out of metal that is more durable. The 705 computer is absolutely great, but it is a travesty that it is attached with a 10 cent piece of plastic that can potentially cause the loss of the enitre computer while on the road!!!

This mount definately does the job it’s intended for. The nice thing about this is that it comes with what you need to mount to either the handlebar or the stem along with some pads to adjust the angle. It works very well. My only complaint which knocked it down one star is that the tab to release the Garmin unit can break easily if you’re not careful. That’s how I ended up ordering a replacement. Other than that, it works great.

4 Stars Garmin Dash Mount
I’ve used Garmin mounts before, with older automotive GPS units. In general, they work well and their adhesive mounting is about as good as is possible. With an older, heavier, Streetpilot 3, in a sports car where rocking vibration is fairly high, the mount fails after a year or so of service. I have not had a mount failure in any other car, even with the heavy Streetpilot 3.

I am reasonably confident that, even in the sports car, the mount will not fail with the much lighter Nuvi.

I received the window mount with my Nuvi, but wanted the dash mount instead. The dash mount was easy to install and works great!

My Nuvi 350 came with a windshield mount. After about a month on the windshield, I had to take it off to move it to another car. When I went to pull it off, pieces of rubber ripped off and was stuck onto the windshield! The suction power obviously was never the same again after that. The GPS+mount would fly off when I accelarted too fast and I was worried that it would fly out the window! It was really a terrible mount.

I had been delaying purchasing a new mount, mostly out of laziness, but I decided to give this dash mount a try. When I received the mount, I first tried using the temporary sticker which is suppose leave minimal residue on the dash if you ever wanted to remove it. I really care about how my car looks so I decided to try this route first. However, the adhesive strength on the temporary sticker was definitely not enough to secure the GPS into place.

So the next day I tried the permanent sticker and that thing is stuck to my dash as if I used superglue. I really love how it looks and functions. You can quickly detach the arm and GPS from the base, allowing you to keep a lower profile when parked in public places.

If you are unhappy with the windshield mount and you don’t mind having a permanent sticker going on your dash, I would definitely recommend this product.

3 Stars This is a permanent mount!
I had to buy a new NUVI mount as my original one broke after 6 months of infrequent use. The description of this mount made me think it was removable, but turns out you have to stick an adhesive on your dash. The package comes with two adhesives (one permanent, the other “removable”)but the instructions don’t specify which is which, so if you make the 50/50 mistake of putting the permanent adhesive on, you’ll have a difficult time removing it. I returned the product to Amazon.

This package is not applicable to the Nuvi 660 unit.

The ball mount & sticky pads are o.k. but the interface connector is not compatible with the Nuvi 660. The interface does not match the 660 mounting features and the power connector doesn’t match the cable that is shipped with the 660.

The concept of being able to easily move the unit from one vehicle to the next is not as convenient as you would expect.

1 Star Worthless on my 2 vehicles
Wouldn’t stick on my 2 vehicle (’95 4runner and 2000 Jetta), maybe because of the curved windshield. Bought the bean bag and am very happy with that. It’s the way to go IMHO. You can than hide it when you leave the car leaving no telltale apparatus to tempt thieves.

Recently, I had my car broken into and the thieves took my charging cord and cradle but left my Garmin. This was a very inexpensive way to be able to charge and use my Garmin.

4 Stars Not quite an identical replacement…
I ordered a replacement for my suction-cup and A/C adapter in hopes that it would fix the periodic power-losses I am seeing with my Nuvi 660. I had my previous cable strung underneath my dashboard and up to the lower left-hand corner of my windshield which resulted in just a little bit of slack. However, when I went to replace the cable, I found that the A/C adapter cable that comes with this product is about 6 inches shorter than the stock cable that came with my Nuvi. It’s not long enough to work with my current configuration…and I will now have to find an alternate means of mounting my Nuvi.

4 Stars Makes Life Easier
This OEM Prodect works perfectly with my Nuvi. I have had no problems so far, although I have not used the suction cup mount (just the charger and the black piece that hooks up the garmin to my dashboard garmin stand).

The only reason it lost a star is because I known from previous experience that the charger is susceptible to breaking, I’ve had one fall apart for no apparent reason before.

5 Stars an extra for my second car
I bought this for another car I have so I don’t have to keep taking the entire thing out and puting it in the other car. It works great except once in a while the suction comes undone because of extreme heat or cold. If you have heat or a/c on, it stays on fine. I have a Garmin nuvi 360 and I just move it from one car to the other. Very simple.

I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS COMBINATION!! I purchased BOTH the Swiveling Automotive Mount(010-10456-00) & the 3-Finger Friction Mount(010-10503-01) by Garmin for my GPSMAP 60CSx. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND buying the COMBINATION. After reading the many reviews warning about using Just the swivel mount, I decided on the combo offered by Amazon. I had been using a cell-phone holder to place my GPS on my dash. THE PROBLEM: every mildly sharp curve, or big bump in the road sent it sliding across(or off) the dash. I found myself holding on to it most of the time. I did NOT even try the swivel mount alone, as it must have a flat, smooth surface to adhear(temporary OR permanent)! SO FAR, WITH THE 3-FINGER FRICTION MOUNT, I HAVE YET TO HAVE IT MOVE!! (I drive a 4-wheel drive Yukon, both on and off-road while Geocaching). VERY ADJUSTABLE! My wife said this is the BEST thing I have bought in a long time, as I don’t get mad at the GPS anymore. She said she would gladly have paid $155.00, not the $55.80 it cost just to have the PEACE OF MIND!

Once I was able to confirm that this fit my Map60CSX AND that I needed it for the friction mount I ordered it.

It’s simple but versatile. The display on the GPS can be tilted forward/backward, rotated clockwise/ccw and spun on the base. More than I need for my dashboard use. It comes with a peel and stick adhesive piece that exactly matches the dimensions of the base, but I’ll never use it; too restrictive, that’s why I went with the friction mount.
