User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Magellan Maestro 3250
This is a very nice GPS. It works well in almost every respect. I am especially impressed with its ability to recognize voice commands with no training. I also like the way it turns on and off with the ignition while installed in the car. The voice on the device is clear and pronunciation is quite good. The display is clear and I did not experience the display being too bright as described in other reviews. My only complaint is that I found it difficult to program a route with sequential stops. It works well from the present location to the next stop. However, I was not able to easily program multiple addresses on a trip. I was able to enter the addresses of stops into my address book and use that to find the next location but the process was awkward. There were no written instructions with the unit but I was able to download an instruction manual from the manufacturers web site. I had a question about the unit and requested information from the manufacturer via email for which I never received a reply. I downloaded and installed new firmware and that worked well. The CD that came with the unit did not work at all but the Magellan website was easy to use. The unit is an excellent value for the money and I would recommend it.

4 Stars Great value
Although I haven’t had the opportunity to evaluate the GPS on a road trip, I did use it in the local area (Thirty mile radius) and I am more than satisfied with it’s performance.

1 Star Unit Seems OK-Magellan Customer Service is Terrible
Plan on purchasing this unit only if you know you will never need any phone support.

Per the Magellan site any unit shipped with outdated maps is eligible for a no charge upgrade within 30 days. This unit shipped with outdated maps and is NOT eligible for the free upgrade as it is re manufactured. I made three separate phone calls to Magellan before I found a customer service rep that had any idea what the map upgrade program required and was able to tell me this unit was not included. After looking on the Magellan site I did find that this information was accurate and stated as a exclusion.

You get what you pay for and by the time you pay for the $79.99 needed map upgrade on top of the unit you could have bought something else. This in no bargain and with terrible customer service knowledge I would avoid this unit and all systems from Magellan. If you doubt my experience, call them for yourself.

1 Star No Mainland U.S. Map, CD Cracked
I received this 3250 via free shipping. It came partially charged, so I mounted it using windshield mount in my car, excited to use it for the first time. When I started entering address it can not find any city in California! So I went to ‘User Options’ and tapped on ‘Region’ to change region. Surprisingly and to my disappointment, the only regions listed are Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. I bought the GPS in the U.S. @ Amazon.com and I live in the contiguous U.S. Why will they ship me a unit without map of mainland U.S.??? I connected the the GPS to my PC and the file explorer showed only these files under TFATMAP folder: AAA_TB_POI.poi, AK_HI_PR.imi, ALASKA_POI.poi, Canada.imi, CANADA_POI.poi, HI_POI.poi, NA_Traffic.trf, NRBM_NA.MGI, PR_POI.POI. That’s it, looks like it’s obviously missing the mainland U.S. map files, and the unit has 1.69GB free space out of the 2GB internal memory. Also the CD that came with it has a crack and unreadable. They should have called this a dilapidated and not ‘refurbished’ unit.

5 Stars Great GPS
Bought one for each of my 2 sons. The most user friendly GPS I have ever seen. Even the installation hardware was great. Good buy and great product.
